Divine Mercy Parish Retreat
Friday, Feb. 12th (evening) and Saturday, Feb. 13th
We are excited to welcome Fr. Chris Alar of the Marians of the Immaculate Conception to lead our annual parish retreat. A retreat overview can be found here, and a detailed schedule here. Please RSVP to Monica at the parish office so that we can get an accurate count for meals - (763) 497-2745, ext. 210, or firstname.lastname@example.org. There is no cost. This is a great way to begin your Lenten journey this year! Please join us.
Ash Wednesday is February 10th
Mass Times: 7:00 a.m., 5:00 p.m., and 7:00 p.m.
From age 18 until our 59th birthday we are to fast on Ash Wednesday, and to abstain from meat.
Stations of the Cross will be held Fridays of Lent at 7:00 p.m. and Tuesdays at 1:30 p.m.
February LIFT Classes Begin Monday, Feb. 1
February LIFT dates are tonight, Mon 2/1, 5:30-7:30 p.m.; this Wed 2/3, 6:30-8:30 p.m., and this Sun 2/7, 12:30-2:30 p.m. This is our month for archdiocesan safety lessons for grades K-8, so please plan to attend! We need 90% attendance, or we will have to schedule makeup sessions. If you can't attend your regular night, please bring your kids to one of the other sessions!
The theme for this month is God's forgiveness and mercy -- and since the last session was more "academic," this one will be more from the heart. I hope you can join us!
We will not have sacrament classes on Wed 2/10 –- please plan to attend Ash Wednesday Mass as a family at 7 a.m., 5 p.m., or 7 p.m. instead! The next First Communion class is Wed 2/17 from 6 to 7 p.m. Confirmation classes meet Wed 2/17 and Wed 2/24 from 7 to 8:30 p.m.
There are new guidelines from the Archdiocese regarding volunteers. If you previously were required to have a background check, sign an employee code of conduct, and/or have VIRTUS training, that will now need to be updated every three years. This can all be done online (if you have previously attended a VIRTUS session you will not need to go again). You can find more information about how to do this by clicking on the Volunteer link on the right side of this page. If it has been since summer of 2008 or earlier, you will have to complete these updates by March 31st to continue to volunteer. If more recent, you have until March 31st of 2017 to complete these three things (as needed for your volunteer ministry).
OUR MISSION PRAYER
Glory and praise to You, O Lord. In humble gratitude for the enduring faith of St. Michael Catholic Church, we turn to You for guidance. Grant us the wisdom to comprehend Your mission for us, and the courage to joyfully bring it to completion. Transform our minds by Your truth, our hearts by Your love, and our actions for Your service. Abounding in hope through the power of the Holy Spirit, may we become a people living for Christ. Amen.
In fall of 2009 St. Michael Catholic Church embarked on a strategic planning process. It began with a comprehensive parishioner survey. The results from the survey were combined with demographic and other background information for use by the strategic planning team. The team was composed of 40+ individuals from the parish, including our clergy, staff, and lay leaders from a broad swath of committees and ministries. The results of the process were the mission prayer, a set of visionary goals, and a preliminary 2-year action plan. Included here are four documents for your information; two that came out of the planning process, and two from Town Hall Presentations to our parishioners.
