Baptism is the sacrament that marks the beginning of the entire Christian life, and is the first of the sacraments of initiation.  In Baptism we are freed from sin and become sons and daughters of God.  In the sacrament we receive the very life of God, become part of the Body of Christ, become members of the Church, and are called to share in its mission.  To see the requirements and guidelines for the sacrament of Baptism, click here.

First Reconciliation takes place during second Grade. Parents and teachers prepare students in the fall and the sacrament is celebrated in January. Students are required to be enrolled in Faith Formation classes or Parish School during this year. Special arrangements are made for older students who have not received this Sacrament.

First Communion also is celebrated during second grade, usually on the two Sundays following Easter at special 1:30 PM liturgies. Students also must be enrolled in classes at Parish School or Faith Formation for Eucharistic preparation. Parents are required to be actively involved in this process and resources are made available to them.

Confirmation is received by students in tenth grade after completion of a two year program. Ninth grade lessons focus on morality and social justice, which includes community service projects. Tenth grade concentrates on church teachings and conversion of heart.  The Confirmation ceremony takes place in the fall or winter at the Basilica of Saint Mary in Minneapolis, or the Cathedral of Saint Paul in St. Paul.  Our parish celebrates with a Welcoming Mass close to that day.
