Parish Update for Tuesday, June 16, 2020

Please Pray for Tomorrow’s Confirmation Class!

St. Michael faith formation teens will be confirmed tomorrow at a special Mass at 7 PM. Please pray for the teens, their sponsors and their families, and please note that Adoration will be closed until 10 PM. Since attendance at these Masses is limited due to coronavirus, friends and family are invited to watch via livestream at our parish YouTube channel, Veni Sancte Spiritus!

Celebrate Fr. Richards and Say Farewell This Weekend

This weekend, June 20-21, will be Fr. Richards’s last here at St. Michael. After each Mass, he will be available to say goodbye to parishioners either outdoors or in the gathering area. For those who are not yet attending Mass in person, you can drive through the circle in front of the church to see Father beginning at around 12:45 PM on Sunday. Given social distancing requirements, we ask the you be patient and mindful of those around you from other households as you wait—and as brief as you can be when it’s your turn with our beloved pastor! Follow on-site directions, and let’s give him a great sendoff!

Adoration Remains in the Main Church

As the parish begins to reopen, we will continue to offer Adoration in the main church through at least the summer months—however, we are also beginning to see more Adoration closures because of sacramental events and other parish activities re-starting.  Scheduled adorers are being notified of Adoration closures in advance; if you drop by for Adoration at an unscheduled time and there is an event in the church, please come back to adore at another time.

Justice, Healing and Forgiveness Initiative Kicks Off June 27-28

In the coming weeks, our parish will be hosting a series of events on Restorative Justice, Healing and Forgiveness in collaboration with the Archdiocese of St. Paul and Minneapolis. The first two events have already been scheduled:

  • Saturday and Sunday, June 27-28: Restorative Justice and Healing Circles. Dan Griffith will be preaching at 5 PM Mass on Saturday and 8:30 and 10:30 AM Masses on Sunday on the topic of restorative justice, followed by an opportunity to experience healing circles firsthand after the 10:30 AM Mass.
  • Wednesday, July 8: The Imprint of Trauma. Laura Harder, a compassion fatigue therapist, will speak on abuse from the survivor’s perspective. Attendees will gain a basic understanding of how trauma effect psychology and perception and what makes it difficult for survivors to move past it.
