Parishioners gather together to portray the Way of the Cross, helping the faithful to participate in the passion of Jesus. Few words are spoken by the actors as people listen to the speaker tell of the events that happened during each Station and meditate on the prayers being read. The live action of the actors helps the faithful visualize what happened in a way different way from viewing the traditional Stations of the Cross. Prayerful meditation of each station may bring a person into a deeper understanding of Christ’s passion. Opening our hearts to Christ’s suffering during his passion and death helps us to celebrate Christ’s Resurrection on Easter with renewed hope and a better relationship with Jesus. Volunteer opportunities include being part of the cast, the lighting crew, helping with the costumes (possibly some sewing) or advertising. Practice takes place a few weeks prior to Palm Sunday. The stations are portrayed on Palm Sunday and Good Friday.
