Our Society of St. Vincent de Paul, St. Francis of Assisi Conference of St. Michael and Albertville, began in 2013 and currently serves residents in need in eastern Wright County, as well as parishioners of St. Henry who live in Sherburne County.
Inspired by Gospel values, the Society of St. Vincent de Paul, a Catholic lay organization, leads women and men to join together to grow spiritually, and to offer person-to-person service to those who are in need and suffering, in the tradition of its founder, Blessed Frédéric Ozanam, and patron, St. Vincent de Paul.
As a reflection of the whole family of God, members, who are known as Vincentians, are drawn from every ethnic and cultural background, age group, and economic level.
Vincentians are united in an international society of charity by their spirit of poverty, humility, and sharing, which is nourished by prayer and reflection, mutually supportive gatherings, and adherence to a basic Rule.
Organized locally, Vincentians witness God’s love by embracing all works of charity and justice. The Society collaborates with other people of good will in relieving need and addressing its causes, making no distinction in those served because, in them, Vincentians see the face of Christ.
Vincentians provide personalized assistance to neighbors in need in our community who call our local hotline: 763-634-1167.
The conference also operates the St. Vincent de Paul Store at 200 Central Avenue East in St. Michael. We offer a wide variety of men’s, women’s, children’s, and infant’s clothing, household and kitchen items, small hand and electrical tools, collectibles, jewelry, books, toys, and games. Revenue from the store supports the mission of the conference, and donated items may also be used to support neighbors in need. Hours and additional information are online at svdpstore.net.
The annual St. Vincent de Paul Friends of the Poor Walk raises awareness and financial support for those in material need here in our own communities. Our 2023 Walk attracted 145 walkers and raised $21,000+ for the mission of our local conference! (See the event listing at the upper right to register or donate).
First and foremost, we need more Vincentians—men and women trained to conduct home visits with neighbors in need, advocate for their needs, and communicate and pray with them. We also need associate members who can help with specific needs and projects, as well as volunteers to staff our donation and retail areas of our thrift store.
Our thrift store accepts donated items during regular hours—see svdpstore.net for details. To make a monetary donation to support our mission, leave a clearly marked donation envelope at the parish office or in the collection basket at Mass. You can also donate online!
